“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”
Native American Proverb
On the outside chance you haven’t heard…it’s Earth Day! What a perfect moment to stop and think about how you can make dent in the problem of climate change.
The warming Earth is already wreaking havoc on our weather, and is on course to alter our lives irreversibly and endanger future generations. There is a global plan – The Paris Climate Agreement – to mitigate the worst outcomes. But we need to accelerate the transition to renewable energy to hit our goals of achieving net zero.
I have found that taking action helps me feel less anxious and helpless. If climate change worries you too, it may make you feel better to do something. In honor of Earth Day, here are some simple win-win suggestions that can save you money while helping the planet:
- Reduce food waste
- Consider eating less beef
- Cut back on single-use water bottles
- Recycle the right things
- Insulate your home
But the most impactful thing you can do is create systemic change by educating yourself and influencing others.
Let’s do something about climate change. Learn about it. Think about it. Talk about it.
